Top Down Ventures is excited to announce our participation in the $25 million Series A round for Slide, a modern Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) platform purpose-built for Managed Service Providers (MSPs). The round was led by Base10 Partners, with participation from Outsiders Fund, and Top Down through our Founders Fund I.
This investment reflects our conviction that MSPs need infrastructure software built not just for their operations but for the evolving needs of their customers, including resilience, security, and continuity. Slide addresses this by reimagining BCDR from the ground up to help MSPs protect what matters most to their clients.
Why We Invested in Slide
BCDR is foundational to the MSP value proposition. It underpins service delivery, business continuity, and customer trust, yet the legacy tools in this category are slow, expensive, and brittle.
Slide is changing that. Its platform offers:
- Lightning-fast recovery workflows
- Predictable, MSP-aligned pricing
- Seamless integration with modern RMM, PSA, and security stacks
- A clean, operator-first user experience with security as a priority
“Slide brings clarity and performance back to a category that has become unnecessarily complex,” said Joel Abramson, Managing Partner at Top Down Ventures. “Austin and the team are rethinking BCDR with a fresh lens and building a platform that MSPs can finally trust as both technically superior and operator-first.”
A Battle-Tested Team with Deep MSP Roots
Slide was founded by Austin McChord, who previously built Datto into one of the most successful BCDR platforms in the world, but Slide is far from a solo act. The team includes seasoned MSP software leaders, such as Michael Fass, who was the Chief People Officer and General Counsel at Datto through hypergrowth and exit, and Carlson Choi, former Chief Digital Officer at Datto and a go-to-market leader with deep experience. With a team that combines firsthand experience scaling an MSP-native BCDR category with deep go-to-market, product, and operational horsepower, Slide is uniquely positioned to reset the standard in this space.
“Having lived this once before, I know exactly what we’re building, how to build it, and what not to do,” said McChord in a recent interview. “I’ve built a data backup and disaster recovery product that’s scaled to hundreds of thousands of businesses. I’ve learned the right way to do it and the wrong way.” (Source)
Continuing Our Investment in Foundational MSP Infrastructure
Our investment in Slide aligns with our broader strategy to back companies building foundational tools for the MSP channel. It also continues our collaboration with Austin McChord, whom we first partnered with through Cork, the leading AI-powered cyber risk assurance platform for MSPs and SMBs (read more).
Together, Slide and Cork represent the future of MSP-first infrastructure: resilient, scalable, and deeply operator-aligned.
What’s Next
Slide will use this Series A funding to accelerate product development, expand go-to-market efforts, and grow its presence across the MSP ecosystem. We’re proud to support a team with both the vision and the proven execution to reshape BCDR for the next decade.
